Almotamar.net - Yemen Human Rights Minister Dr Huda al-Ban has on Tuesday revealed a government tendency for engaging civil society organisations working in human rights field in the reply to international reports issued by the US State Department, Amnesty International, Freedom House and others, so that the reply would be a national one instead of official. She has accused report by the US State Department of inaccuracy, reshuffling cards and fabrication of non-existing realities. She added that 95% of the issues and incidents the report has tackled had been literally mentioned in previous years.
Minister al-Ban has called the attention that compilers of the report do not distinguish between provisions of the judiciary in crimes violating the law and those that are considered as violation of human rights and that they depend on unidentified sources or one-sided opposition ones. She considered the American report as a political targeting more than anything else.
The Yemeni Minister for Human Rights, in an interview to Al-Mithaq newspaper, announced of a national strategy on human rights presently under preparation and a developed mechanism for enhancement of active partnership between the ministry and the civil society organisations. She added that her ministry is presently working at making national legislations as keeping up with international agreements.
