Almotamar.net - SANAA- The European Union Election Observation Mission (EUEOM) in Yemen condemned the incident that took place in al-Jawf governorate that claimed life of three persons among them the candidate of the General People�s Congress there, the chairman of the overseeing committee and a third citizen.


The EUEOM said in a statement, the almotamar.net received a copy of it; it condemns that incident happening two days after the electoral campaign and resulted in the death of three persons and injury of five others. Chief observer in the mission Nicholson Winterbourne said, that there was no space of violence in democratic elections and that they strongly condemn all acts of violence without reservations. She said the exchange of fire has overshadowed a calm beginning of the campaign of the presidential and local councils elections scheduled to begin on the 20th of next month.
The GPC had denounced the assassination of its candidate for the elections of local councils in the governorate of al-Jawf (north-east Yemen) last Thursday�s evening in an incident claiming lives of others. An official source for the GPC expressed strong regret for those conducts which he described as mad and do not agree with values of democracy and principles of elections and honorable competition. The source added that the Islah party wanted from this crime to carry out is threats it launched by its leaders in a previous time and promoted a talk on �Somalization� of Yemen and triggering sedition and fighting in the country. The source considered it as violation of Islamic values and principles of democracy and disregard of the life of people, challenging rules and laws and the state of institutions through practices of the Islah militias inside election centers which the law safeguarded against such dangerous phenomena. The source also demanded all political forces and the masses of the people, the security apparatuses and judiciary to perform their role in protecting lives of the citizens and the democratic process so that it will be moving in stable and safe atmospheres.
