Almotamar.net - President Ali Abdullah Saleh, the Commander in Chief of the armed forces chaired a meeting on Thursday for commanders of military units and directors of defence ministry departments. The meeting was attended by the Vice-President Abid Rabeh Mansour Hadi, the Prime Minister Dr Ali Mohammed Mujawar and a number of officials.
The military commanders presented reports on progress of performance at the defence ministry departments and units as well as the level of training plans approved by the defence ministry and the chief of staff for 2009nin addition to combating and security preparedness of the armed forces and security.

The meeting discussed also the plans relating to improvement of building and modernization of the armed forces and security in Yemen.
President Saleh addressed the meeting beginning by praising the performance of armed forces and security and their sacrifices in carrying out their duties in defending the homeland and, its revolution and unity and in preserving peace and stability and protection of gains and achievements and national constants.

The President pointed out the long and advanced distances on the road of building and modernization of the armed forces and security, particularly in reinforcing the defensive and security capability and the combating and security high and developed supplies the armed forces and security possess.

President Saleh also clarified that the Yemeni armed forces and security have become an object of pride for the entire people, confirming interest of the political leadership in the importance of training and qualification of the armed forces and security.

The President said, �there cannot be a talk on real development without the existence of strong armed forces and security and able to stabilize security and public peace in the society.� He has also emphasised the importance that members of the armed forces and security should be armed with sound national awareness and to be fortified with values of loyalty to God, the homeland, the revolution and unity and the affiliation to the homeland through which the fighter can perform his national mission perfectly.

The President added that the correct awareness of fighters enables them to face all deceiving rumours hat are aimed against their morale or the great national role hat they undertake for the homeland and performing the duty. He has also stressed that the military and security commanders must be and example to others under their responsibility in behaviour and discipline, high morale and in carrying out the national duties and responsibilities.
