Almotamar.net - A source at the Yemeni Geologist survey has expected Thursday the exportation of a first shipment of zinc, lead and silver from Yemen at the beginning of the year 2010.
The source said it would be the of productions of the project of Sulb Mountain in Nahm area, Sana'a province. The project is one of the strategic projects in minerals sector besides to what it would provide of direct and indirect job opportunities for the inhabitants of the area.
In an exclusive statement to almotamar.net the source said the proportion of finishing of the project amounted so far to about 50% and it is expected the finishing of all constructional works of the project by the end of this year. He also clarified that the total number of companies operating in the field of mining in Yemen have until the end of 2008 reached 24 and the number of mining installations amounted to 2065 and the number of Yemeni workers there amounted to 11 thousand and 800 workers.
The official source also revealed that during the next stage the government is intent to gather all previous information relating to geologist and mineral studies made by international, German and Czech geologist teams in operation in Yemen during the eighties of the last century for using them in promotion for attracting companies working in mining fields for investment in Yemen. He added that the government would also gather information on metals and industrial and constructional rocks existing on both sides of the railroad of Sana'a-Mareb-Jawf-Shabwa.
The source pointed to preparations for conducting studies for search for zinc, lead and silver metals in the two areas of Sadareh and Yabuth in Shabwa province as well as exploratory studies of industrial and constructional minerals and rocks in areas of the coastal stripe of Mahara province.
The government source also revealed continuation of exploratory studies for gold metal in Wadi Mon in the province of Hadramout
