Almotamar.net, Saba - Security forces carried out early Thursday raids on terrorist dens in two Yemeni provinces killing and arresting dozens of al-Qaeda elements, the September 26 website reported.
The raids took place in Sana'a and Abyan, with 34 terrorists killed and other 17 suspects arrested including foreigners.
A security source quoted by the website said the raids occurred in association with the Air Force when jet fighters supported troops to raid training bases and hideouts of would-be suiciders who had planned to attack domestic and foreign interests in the country, including schools.
Between 24-30 plotters were killed and caught in Abyan in the south, four killed and four arrested in Arahab district north of the capital, and 13 were seized in the capital of Sana'a.
Hunting plotters is ongoing and the security forces are vigilant to thwart possible attacks against innocents and vital institutions and foreign missions, the source said, adding those planning to destabilize the public security can't meet their aim.
The government also appreciates the cooperation of the citizens who coordinated Thursday's raids and continuous cooperation with the security forces to preserve peace and arrest fugitives, the source added.
