Almotamar.net - Justice Minister Dr Ghazi al-Aghbari expressed his refusal to attend meetings of the committee on issuing laws of provisions of the Islamic law, sticking to amendments of personal status law presented by the government stipulating the limiting of marriage age in Yemen at 18 years.
At the parliament sitting on Sunday said he was not officially notified on the parliament backing off from a previous voting on defining marriage age at 17 years as a middle solution between the government and the legalizing committee that refuse limiting marriage age.
The minister stressed on that the government stance proceeds from the interest of children intended to married without being qualified for marriage life, confirming non-existence of international or western dictations in this regard and cited the opinion of the parliamentary health committee.
