almotamar.net - The Yemeni Minister of Information Hassan Ahmed al-Lawzi has said Saturday that the election of secretaries general and heads of specialized committees in all the local councils in Yemeni provinces and districts emphasize insistence of the Yemeni people on exercising all their democratic rights.

Minister al-Lawzi has also disclosed about endeavors for impeding the holding of the elections and desires for postponing them and the extension of terms of the local councils secretaries general, stressing that the will and determination of the President of the republic �keenness of the people and efforts of the leadership of the Local Administration Ministry precluded the realization of those intentions.

In the press conference held in Sana�a on Saturday by the Deputy Premier for Security and Defence Affairs, the Minister of Local Administration Dr Rashad al-Alimi and attended by a number of representatives of local, Arab and international media outlets, Minister al-Lawzi added that elections of the local councils proved that the Yemeni people stand in the face of all acts aimed to hinder them from practicing their right to elect their leaderships and officials in the local authorities.

Minister al-Lawzi also considered the results of the local councils elections would give a qualitative addition to the future of democratic process in Yemen.
