Almotamar.net - An official source at the General People’s Congress (GPC), the ruling party in Yemen on Monday called on leaderships of the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP), an opposition alliance, to be ken on that their address to be characterized by truthfulness, objectivity and sense of responsibility in their dealing with the constitution, the law and the electoral tight, which is the possession of electors and is not subject to desirers of individuals or parties.

Al-Mithaq weekly has on Monday quoted the GPC source as saying that leadership of the GPC and the technical committee have begun dealing with the letter they received from the Supreme Commission for Elections and Referendum (SCER) with regard to sending names of the GPC representatives in the basic, supervising and subcommittees.

The source affirmed that the SCER is a constitutional body nominated by the parliament and a presidential decree was issued on appointing it. It does not need recognition or denial by the JMP. It is playing its role according to the constitution and the law.

The source commented on statements made by leaderships in the JMP concerning the SCER by saying it seems that the parties of the JMP do not have legal experts that would spare them making mistakes because such statements should mot be voiced by political parties.

He added it is also flawed of leaderships at the JMP to work for impeding parliamentary election again and again while they realize that elections are the right to the electors and not only to political parities.

The GPC source has made it clear that decisions taken by the SCER came in implementation of the law according to defined timetables by demands of the political parties regarding nomination of their members in committee on reviewing electors’ records. He added that the previous postponement of the elections came under agreement of the political parties on amending a constitutional article and those leaderships are aware that constitutionally that article can only amended for one time.
