Almotamar.net - Director of the American Democratic Institute for the Middle East Less Campbell has emphasised Tuesday that democracy in Yemen is based on genuine foundations.
During his meeting on Tuesday with the Yemeni Vice President Abid Rabu Mansour Hadi the American official pointed out that in Yemen there are parties, platforms and opposition and those are the basis pillars of the democratic process, indicating to the importance of cooperation by all for the success of this significant approach.
The Vice President and the American officials have discussed in the meeting the issues and topics related to the cooperation in the area of consolidation of the democratic process in Yemen and preparations for the parliamentary elections on 27 of next April.
According to Saba news agency the vice President touched on the nature of dialogues that have been continuing with the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP), praising the support by the United States of America and the European Union for the democratic pursuit in Yemen.
The Vice President has also reviewed a number of data connected to the importance of holding the elections on time.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Secretary General of the General People�s Congress (GPC) for External Relations Affairs Sultan al-Barakani, the GPC�s Assistant Secretary General for Culture and Information Sector Dr Ahmed Ubeid Bin Daghr and Director of the Democratic Institute Office in Sana�a and Deputy Director of the Office.
