Almotamar.net - The European Union (EU) called on all political parties and activities in Yemen for self-restraint and the speed of beginning of serious and real dialogue.

In a statement issued in Brussels Saturday, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton there is now a need holding urgent, tangible and of credibility measures for meeting aspirations f the Yemeni people.

She asked President Ali Abdullah Saleh to translate the initiative he announced on the 10th of this month into practical and tangible steps.

Mrs. Ash to n also expressed regret and sorrow for the victims and the injuries which happened as a result f acts of violence witnessed in masses sit-ins in Sana�a and some Yemeni cities, affirming that violence and the use of force against demonstrators an object of condemnation by the EU.

She stressed the importance that the government sides should speed up in taking necessary measures to ensure protection for the demonstrators and guaranteeing their right to gathering with freedom, pointing out that the government is responsible for safety of its citizens.
