Almotamar.net - Military and security troops on Sunday regained control of some locations located by al-Qaeda militants in Thi-Naem area of Baidha province.

An official said that the troops stationed in some mountainous areas in Thi-Naem, which have been under the militants' control.

The militants used the locations for committing assassinations, robbery and other sabotage acts, the source said.

Early this month, three soldiers and a tribal sheikh were killed when terrorists ambushed a convoy of Baidha governor and the 7th military region commander in Thi Naem district.

The governor and the military commander have survived the attack.

Six terrorists were killed and others wounded when the convey security escort clashed with the attackers.

The operation in Baidha province came as the army backed by popular committees mounts its offensive against al-Qaeda militants in Abyan and Shabwa provinces since Tuesday.

Dozens of al-Qaeda militants, including foreigners, were killed, wounded or arrested. Some others have fled and are being hunted, according to military officials.
