Almotamar.net - An official source at the Supreme Security Committee said security forces have killed a dangerous leading al-Qaeda militant during a raid aimed at capturing him in Sana's late on Thursday.

The source said that security authorities initiated a manhunt after the terrorist Muhammad Saeed al-Shabwani and managed to surround him at around 21:00 (0100 GMT Friday) Thursday evening at the 45th Street in Sana'a, but he immediately opened fire on the security force chasing him forcing police to deal with him firmly fire back killing him and another person who was with him.

"The terrorist al-Shabwani was one of the wanted most dangerous al-Qaeda terrorists and one of the group's leading members who has planned and participated in kidnappings and assassinations in the capital city targeting policemen and a number of foreign nationals," the source said.

The sources said that security and military authorities "would not allow terrorists who break the law and the values ​​of the Islamic Shari'a to spread chaos, acts of sabotage, fear and panic among the citizens and undermine security and disturb the stability of the society."

He called upon the people to cooperate with the security agencies and report any information they have on the whereabouts and movement.
