Almotamar.net - Chairman of the Constitutional Committee at the Yemen parliament Ali Abdullah Abu Hlaiqa said soundness of procedures and ways used by the International Criminal Court (ICC) are illegal as they contradict sovereignty of states and their national legislations. He added that the ICC is actually an international agreement as any treaty that does not bind states even to sign it.
In his discussion paper "Rome Statute and its contradiction with national legislations" Abu Hlaiqa affirmed that each of Belgium and Luxemburg or the so-called the European Union grouping's modifying their laws by force in a way to be compatible with the laws of the ICC is considered as a political aim because the European Union is the side that adopted the idea of the ICC and wanted through it or tempt world countries to sign it.
In a symposium of " The law of the ICC and targeting Sudan", organised by Sheikh Al-Ahmar in Sana'a Monday , he clarified there are issues aroused in most of the world countries on the ICC , among them are that the Rome Statute impinges on the national sovereignty of states, not recognizing immunities connected with official and personal title of the individual besides not observing the laws concerning handing over of citizens to any authority in the world . he said the issue aroused at the Yemeni parliament between the constitutional committee , members of parliament and civil organisations forced the parliament to hold a symposium that convened all spectra of political forces in Yemen so that to come out with recommendations of not confiding in resolutions of the ICC because they constitute danger to members of the Yemeni society and then the decision of the government approval of the "suspicious" agreement was cancelled.
On his part the Sudanese ambassador to Yemen Mahmoud Adam Ismael said the ICC Prosecutor presenting of arrest warrant against the President al-Bashir is among many of targeting the Sudan in its modern history has come under.
